All three candidate forums begin at 7 p.m. and the public is invited. Zoom links to each forum are now posted on the lwvhaysco.com/candidateforums webpage. Please spread the word!
 

Voter Registration Deadline, Updating Your Info, and Voting by Mail

 
The last day to register to vote for the March 1 Primary Election is Monday, January 31. Voter registration events are scheduled for:
  • Dripping Springs Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Wimberley Village Library on Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • San Marcos's Public Library has voter registration on the 31st from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
 
Check your voter registration status now at VoteTexas.gov Am I Registered? Are you still registered? Is the address the same? Any name change? https://lwvhaysco.com/confirmyourregistration
 
 For the first time, Texans may update voter registration information online. See video on how here. https://lwvhaysco.com/voterregistration  (Since the new voter registration forms required for first-time registration are in short supply, we encourage updating your info online.)
 
Not registered? Plan to register at one of the locations above on January 31. Or fill out a new voter registration application here, print it, sign it, and mail it in.. Qualifications and directions are available here, If you do not have access to a printer, use the Register2Vote option on that page. Just be make sure it is received by the Elections Administrator by 5 p.m. January 31.
 
Mail it to: Hays County Elections, 712 South Stagecoach Trail, Suite 1012, San Marcos, TX 78666.
 
Eligible to vote by mail? Age 65 or older or otherwise eligible to vote by mail, apply by February 18 (must be received that day). Download application to vote by mail here:  English  Spanish   See step-by-step video  here. Read  more. Avoid having your application rejected by filling in as much extra information as you can. Put the last 4 digits of your social security number along with Texas-issued ID (TDL etc.).
 
Your mail-in ballot must be received by 5 p.m. on Election Day. If you hand-deliver it, it will only be accepted on Election Day, deliver only your own ballot, and be prepared to show your drivers license or other state-issued ID. If you change your mind and decide to vote in person, take the mail-in ballot to the polls with you to be voided. Otherwise you can only vote a provisional ballot which will only be counted if you take the mail-in ballot to the Elections Office, surrender it there, and show them your state-issued ID.

Nominations Deadline Approaching

The LWV of Hays County has the following board openings for 2022-2023 (with new terms beginning June 1):

• President Elect
• Secretary
• Communications Director
• Outreach Director

Please submit nominations to Margaret Lindsey by 5pm Monday 1/24/2022 to be added to the ballot.

Each role and their general responsibilities are outlined below. The League is willing to provide training and development to help on your journey with us.
 
President Elect –
• Preparing to step into the role of President;
(cont.)
• Fill-in for president at meetings as appropriate;
• Reaching out and participating with various parts of the League to enhance networking and understanding of League activities;
• Shadow the President as appropriate.

Secretary –
• Primarily responsible for creating minutes that serve as the legal record of the Hays League’s Board of Directors and other duties
 
Communications Director –
• Website manager – maintenance and development
• Oversight of FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter (need a team)
 
Outreach Director –
• Marketing, liaison with media and other groups
• News releases to print outlets, radio, TV, etc.  (need a team)
 
Former members who are currently or have previously held these positions are available
to answer questions.  Board service for these roles will begin June 2022 and into 2023.
